Special design show kidsroomZOOM! for the first time in Germany.
Kind + Jugend 2013 new design park showcases extraordinary objects for the children’s room.
Kind + Jugend, which will be held this year from 19th to 22nd September, is strengthening its portfolio and presenting the special kidsroomZOOM! show in a new design park. The aim of kidsroomZOOM! is to create products designed with a child’s point of view in mind.
kidsroomZOOM! is a joint effort by designers, artists, producers, users, publishers and curators from throughout Europe.
In a design park created expressly for the purpose in Hall 10.1 at Koelnmesse, trade visitors at this year’s Kind + Jugend can seek their inspiration in imaginative interior decorating ideas, extraordinary furniture, fixtures and toys. ‘With the design park we are strengthening the Kind + Jugend portfolio in the area of contemporary design for children’s rooms’, explains Katharina C. Hamma, Chief Operating Officer at Koelnmesse GmbH. ‘Even when it comes to the design of children’s rooms, individuality and lifestyle play an increasingly important role. At Kind + Jugend, we want to do the best possible job of reflecting this trend, emphasising the importance of this trade fair for the baby and furnishings sector as well’, Hamma added.
About kidsroomZOOM!
How old r u?, the international designers at kidsroomZOOM! ask themselves, placing themselves entirely in the shoes of the little occupants for whom they are designing furniture and toys. After all, despite the unusual design, these products should withstand the demands of a child’s everyday life, shaped as it is by the urge to move about and explore. After appearances including Vienna Design Week and MilanoFuorisalone, at Kind + Jugend, kidsroomZOOM! presents these select design objects in Germany for the first time.
Curator for ‘kidsroomZOOM!’ is unduetrestella, a special project of design and contemporary art for children directed by Paola Noé. A total of some 40 designers from all over Europe are participants in this special show.

About Kind + Jugend
For more than 50 years, the national and international children’s outfitting sector has used Kind +Jugend to present their latest products and innovations. In 2012, some 950 exhibitors from more than 40 countries presented international trade visitors with all the latest developments in conjunction with children’s furniture, safety seats, textile outfitting, children’s buggies, hygiene products and toys. More than 21,000 trade visitors used Kind + Jugend 2012 to gather information, place orders and make new business contacts.
